Udayathara has alleged that filmmaker M P Gopi has reduced the importance her character in ‘Malayan’, the Karan starrer, which hit theatres recently.

“While signing me for the project, Gopi promised that there will be equal importance to characters played by me and Shammu. But the final output is no match to his assurance. He totally cut short the length of my role,” she said.

It may be recalled that Udayathara, who made her debut in Kollywood with ‘Thee Nagar’, alleged the director of the film Thirumalai was the reason behind reports appeared in a section of the media that she would marry him.

“He (Thirumalai) was my good friend. It is rather unfortunate that he is spreading wrong news about me. If he continues the same act, I will file a complaint against him in the directors' association,” the actress said at that time.
